FACES FESTIVAL 2026

From April 16th-19th, I had the privilege of attending the third edition of the FACES Caricature Festival, which took place at the Palazzo del Fumetto (Comics Palace) in Pordenone, Italy. The event was organized by Federico Cecchin and featured speakers Marco Martellini, Olivia Tinsley of The Redman Family Foundation, Lindsey Olivares and Sebastian Kruger. Artists spent the days drawing with locals and each other and enjoyed a cultural outing to a local museum and winery. The festival culminated on Sunday with public live drawing and an auction in support of the Caritas Baby Hospital. If you’re a caricature artist interested in visiting Italy, I highly recommend you consider attending this event in 2027, when the city of Pordenone celebrates becoming Italy’s Capital of Culture. Stay tuned for dates and event information.

The Flap Your Trap

I was glad to be part of this crazy international Seinfeld-inspired art + film parody project created by Matt Adams. Over the past 5 years, Matt collaborated individually with 167 different artists from 55 countries to bring this project to life. In total, there are over 250 illustrations.

Here is Part 2, where you can spot my artwork at the 13:30 mark!

NIGAOE EXPO

I’m super honored to have my drawing of the cast of Wednesday as part of the Nigaoe Expo exhibit currently on display at the base of Tokyo Skytree Tower in Japan. Nigaoe (似顔絵) refers to Japanese caricatures or portraits. The exhibit features work from 10 award-winning international artists, highlighting some of the world’s top leaders and entertainers through caricature. I’m one of three artists representing the United States.

Thank you so much to Kage Nakanishi and the Japan Portrait Artists Association for curating this event and having my artwork as a part of it!

KOSCA Caricature Convention 2026

Last week marked the 10th annual KOSCA Caricature Convention, hosted by the Korean Society of Caricature Artists in Seoul. The week was a vibrant celebration of international talent and artistic exchange. The event featured two speakers: 2025 Golden Nosey winner Seulki Ahn and multiple award-winning ISCA Board Member Kelly O’Brien. One hundred artists from around the world competed, representing Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Mongolia, Germany, Russia, and the United States. After a Likeness Competition, a Live Caricature Tournament and three full days of drawing, artists cast their votes and awards were presented. A huge congratulations to all of the winners and especially to this year’s Artist of the Year, Masashi Higashitani of Japan!

Below was my wall of drawings from this year’s KOSCA.

Interview – behind the big head

I had a blast doing an interview all about caricature with Alex Spalding for “Behind the Big Head”!

Listen to me talk about the history of International Society of Caricature Artists*, share some of my studio work, talk caricature theory and give some tips for those just beginning in their caricature journey.

*Note a small correction/clarification to my ISCA history lesson: The National Caricaturist Network began in 1989 and the first conference was in 1991. In 2009, ISCA officially changed its name from the National Caricaturist Network to the International Society of Caricature Artists.
