From April 16th-19th, I had the privilege of attending the third edition of the FACES Caricature Festival, which took place at the Palazzo del Fumetto (Comics Palace) in Pordenone, Italy. The event was organized by Federico Cecchin and featured speakers Marco Martellini, Olivia Tinsley of The Redman Family Foundation, Lindsey Olivares and Sebastian Kruger. Artists spent the days drawing with locals and each other and enjoyed a cultural outing to a local museum and winery. The festival culminated on Sunday with public live drawing and an auction in support of the Caritas Baby Hospital. If you’re a caricature artist interested in visiting Italy, I highly recommend you consider attending this event in 2027, when the city of Pordenone celebrates becoming Italy’s Capital of Culture.
